United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF):
Overview: Topic A: Armed Conflicts Effects on Children or Topic B: Child Trafficking
Norway speaks for Topic A and The UK and Mexico spoke for Topic B
Topic A is what will be discussed on the floor today.
They start a motion for speaking time and the motion for a speaking time of 1 minute passes
The speaking list includes: Japan, Pakistan, the US, the UK, Afghanistan, Korea, Russia, Germany, and Sweden
Added speakers: Norway, Italy, the Central African Republic, Iraq, Portugal, Myanmar-pass, Mexico-pass, the Syrian Arab Republic-pass, Nigeria, Iceland, India
The speakers talk about how Armed Conflicts Effects Children affect their nations and what they want to do about it and give statistics on the effects Armed Conflicts have on Children

Norway- Children asked to join the army above the age of 11 with compensation of the family and or the child and safe schools declarations
Pakistan- Calls out Norway (for the age of 11 solution =) - gives Norway the right to reply

Sweden- speaks on the last time Sweden was involved
Afghanistan- speaks on malnutrition
Russia- speaks on relocation, organized active combat zones, etc.
US- speaks on monetary and military incentives so that they don’t use child soldiers.

Overview: Topic- Voluntourism

Overview: Gender-Biased Sex selection
The day starts with a presentation to go over what they were discussing yesterday.
Gender-Biased Sex selection (Google)- is measured using sex ratio at birth, a comparison of the number of boys born versus the number of girls born in a given period.
In 1994 the UN took action against Gender-Biased Sex selection
The effect that this has on women is still very prominent and women are still encouraged to bear children preferably male and get married.
Motion made and passed is a 5/1 on resolutions made by Armenia
Armenia- two different bodies (one to focus on Education and one on solutions
Pakistan- Education
China- funding for the situation and Education
Switzerland- more rights and change the laws, making abortion and sperm sorting illegal
Turkey- public health and women’s Rights
Motion made and passed is a 5/1 on abortion and sex selection
Mexico- prenatal screening is important and must continue to happen
Australia- believes that if both are banned at the same time it can cause more underground illegal activities which could put mother and child at higher risk, revise the country's laws on their own
United Kingdom- Agreed with Mexico and Australia
Nepal- further increases the rights of women, but abortion should be made illegal but it would bring it underground
France- Abortion should be illegal no matter what and Sperm sorting should be heavily regulated if not banned

Costa Rica- education will lower prison rates and given in prison will give them a chance when they are released
Ukraine- creating programs to increase knowledge through different programs
Uruguay- education is a pivotal piece of rehabilitation
Netherlands- want to highlight that a lot of people were imprisoned and didn’t finish a high school degree or college degree and funding should be supplied
Malaysia- talking to low
Nigeria- talking to low
Albania- solving problems for funds for education
Somalia- education-based rehab has a lower # of second-time offenders
Japan- education is the main
USA- education is key to lowering prison rates

Overview: A death has occurred (RIP Shvrenik) a new member has been added. The room welcomes Alexander Shelepin.

The US, war on terror- gives the UK the right to reply (the UK wants a full investigation into this)

UK- calls upon the UN to investigate what happened, MI6, calls upon the United State, to exercise the right to prosecute whoever did this

China- wants to investigate the link between the Tawainese government and the radical group and work with the UK

World Health Organization (WHO):
Overview: They are passing or denying amendments
The previous amendments were also passed 1.3 and 1.4
1.5 Topic A. Mental Health Crisis in Middle and Low-Income Countries Amendment passes, 1.5B Passes, and 1.5C passes
1.5 resolution fails because a sponsor voted in opposition. They debated and got a recount for the resolution.

United Nations Historical Security Council (UNHSC):
Overview: Suez Crisis, Al Qarasina, a radical anticolonial group based in Aden, are bomb-raiding British + French ships on the Suez canal. There were 39 dead and 13 in critical condition.

France- 11/1 discussing un mod-Fails
UK-12/1 mod discussing rationality of USSR’s resolution-Passes
USSR- Values their alliance with the USSR and will support them, adds that this is a UK internal affairs, but ask France why they will not
France- Resolution is irrational, wants no one in Al Qarasina to be alive by next year
Syria- supports France and the USSR, but doesn’t want more war
Czechoslovakia- Aimed again at France
Lebanon- Directing her argument at France for contradictory statements stated by France
Israel- When they attacked they want them to remind them that they came to their aid say it was for good and wants the same for Al Qarasina
Egypt- military action is the right course of action

Motion for a 12/1 mod to discuss a course of action against Al Qarasina-passes
5/1 mod- France's relevance in the issue- passes
Iraq- doesn’t see how France has any relevance in this issue as it is a British problem
France- wants to join forces with the United kingdom and see the killers prosecuted, and no longer wants to see all of Al Qarasina wiped out again. He wants everyone involved in the raiding and actively participated in it should be put on trial.
Jordan- Addresses France
Israel- the only two who should be making these decisions are Egypt and the UK
USSR- France keeps going against the entire council and wants them to yield their violent behavior. The only person of Al Qarasina that should be on trial if a trial is open is the leader of the radical group.
Lebanon- France is contradictory and once questioned by the USSR they retract their previous statement about killing all of Al Qarasina
10/1 France’s relevance on issue passes
Jordan- France keeps contradicting themselves
Israel- putting everyone on trial will ultimately dissolve any chance of resolution
USSR- France needs to take a step back. France is unwilling to compromise with the rest of the council.
France- has relevance as one of the ships raided was theirs. Questions the USSR’s relevance. Yes, the leader might have organized it, but who carried it out? He will support the paper if there is a clause in there for the leader and everyone that carried it out.
Egypt- Agrees with the USSR and wants to remind France that we are talking
Iraq- wants the US and Nato to kick France out of Nato
UK-putting them all on trial can start another radical war, put just the leaders
Lebanon- France is only thinking of themselves, and only talks about their ships that were lost instead of the issue as a whole
The one working paper on the floor is almost done. Conflicts with France in the writing of this paper are halting the progression of getting it done. It’s France Vrs. The Council.

Overview: trying to buy Amazon
4/1 mod on amazon purchase passes
rush - buying out Amazon, a hugely positive force for the market
Crenshaw- Sell weapons to both Ukraine and Russia, it is easier to keep Amazon in check if we were Amazon
Peters- Buying out Amazon would be bad because it crashed, so it would be bad
Duncan- Amazon is a risky purchase so he agrees with Peter's
