United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF):

Overview: Topic A: Armed Conflicts Effects on Children or Topic B: Child Trafficking 

  • Norway speaks for Topic A and The UK and Mexico spoke for Topic B

  • Topic A is what will be discussed on the floor today. 

  • They start a motion for speaking time and the motion for a speaking time of 1 minute passes 

  • The speaking list includes: Japan, Pakistan, the US, the UK, Afghanistan, Korea, Russia, Germany, and Sweden

  • Added speakers: Norway, Italy, the Central African Republic, Iraq, Portugal, Myanmar-pass, Mexico-pass, the Syrian Arab Republic-pass, Nigeria, Iceland, India

  • The speakers talk about how Armed Conflicts Effects Children affect their nations and what they want to do about it and give statistics on the effects Armed Conflicts have on Children 

  • Motions were brought to the floor and the one that passes is a 6/45 on possible solutions.

  1. Japan - an expansion and continuation of a relief fund passed by the UN in 2021

  2. Norway- Children asked to join the army above the age of 11 with compensation of the family and or the child and safe schools declarations 

  3. Pakistan- Calls out Norway (for the age of 11 solution =) - gives Norway the right to reply

  4. Italy- speaks on education 

  5. Sweden- speaks on the last time Sweden was involved

  6. Afghanistan- speaks on malnutrition 

  7. Russia- speaks on relocation, organized active combat zones, etc.

  8. US- speaks on monetary and military incentives so that they don’t use child soldiers.


Special Political and Decolonization (SPECPOL): 

Overview: Topic- Voluntourism 

Speakers: (one minute speaking time) India, Peru, Grenada, UK

  • There was a 9/45 motion on resolutions and solutions to voluntourism passed 

  • Speakers:

They are having fun here but also running around, it feels like an office during rush hour with deadlines 

JCC 1 current events:

  1. Steve Bannon, Nix, and Alexander Oakes are in contact during un mod to discuss PB crisis 

  2. Oakers paid Watford $5,000 for an unbiased news source 


JCC 2 current events: 

  1. Pelosi warns republican members and thinks there is a potential political hit out for her 

  2. Jim Jordan 

  • Published Oppred

  • Reached out to far-right influencers to make a new social media app

  • Reacvh out to donors to gain the money $500,000 granted

  • Business plan for app requested 

  1. Bernie Sanders hires 2 additional bodyguards for $200,000

HCC current events:

Commission on the Status of Women (CSW):

Overview: Gender-Biased Sex selection

  • The day starts with a presentation to go over what they were discussing yesterday.

  • Gender-Biased Sex selection (Google)- is measured using sex ratio at birth, a comparison of the number of boys born versus the number of girls born in a given period. 

  • In 1994 the UN took action against Gender-Biased Sex selection 

  • The effect that this has on women is still very prominent and women are still encouraged to bear children preferably male and get married.

Motion made and passed is a 5/1 on resolutions made by Armenia 

  1. Armenia- two different bodies (one to focus on Education and one on solutions 

  2. Pakistan- Education 

  3. China- funding for the situation and Education

  4. Switzerland- more rights and change the laws, making abortion and sperm sorting illegal 

  5. Turkey- public health and women’s Rights

Motion made and passed is a 5/1 on abortion and sex selection 

  1. Mexico- prenatal screening is important and must continue to happen 

  2. Australia- believes that if both are banned at the same time it can cause more underground illegal activities which could put mother and child at higher risk, revise the country's laws on their own

  3. United Kingdom- Agreed with Mexico and Australia 

  4. Nepal- further increases the rights of women, but abortion should be made illegal but it would bring it underground 

  5. France- Abortion should be illegal no matter what and Sperm sorting should be heavily regulated if not banned 

Motion by Pakistan for a 10 min un mod 

Different groups formed:

  1. Education 

  • Translation into local language 

  • Create specialized organizations 

  • Have locals translate + infuse their cultures 

  • Address law literacy roles with books, radio, tv, posters + digital resources 

  • Low-income access

  • Empowering women to join the welfare 

  • Equality of work opportunities

  • Focus on secular aspects

  • Respect different cultures

  • Spread info on local laws and helpful organizations

  • Creating more educational opportunities (funds) and visas (to women in 3rd world countries)

  • Tax Breaks?

  • Inhearentence laws- might violate human rights 

  • Creating stronger laws for women's rights 

  1. Economic Focus

  • Funding from more developed nations (China, US, Switzerland)

  • Funds education ideas from other groups

  • Special organizations (UN, UNFPA, WHO, European Union)

  • laws permitting women to inherit property

  • Schedule protest, newspaper launches (cheaper ways to spread awareness)

  • Access to safe and cheap abortions

  • Places and people to go to if they need help (if women are being pressured into abortions also help out other problems women face)

  • Help for women experiencing domestic abuse

Overview:  Prison Rehabilitation 

After the 10-minute un-mod proposed by Costa Rica, a moderated cocus was proposed and passed for a 5/1 on presenting

Motion for a 15-minute un-mod Fails 

Motion for a 6/45 moderated cocus situations of prisoners going into sentencing Passes

  1. Cosa Rica- we need to make sure prisoners have their rights 

  2. Uruguay- Agrees with Costa Rica

  7. Somalia-Overpopluatin in prison due to influence on juveniles 

  8. Netherlands- crimes aren’t always committed voluntarily and they believe that they should take each case individually and evaluate the situation 

Motion passed for a 10/1 on the relationship between imprisonment and education 

  1. Costa Rica- education will lower prison rates and given in prison will give them a chance when they are released 

  2. Ukraine- creating programs to increase knowledge through different programs 

  3. Uruguay- education is a pivotal piece of rehabilitation 

  4. Netherlands- want to highlight that a lot of people were imprisoned and didn’t finish a high school degree or college degree and funding should be supplied  

  5. Malaysia- talking to low 

  6. Nigeria- talking to low

  7. Albania- solving problems for funds for education

  8. Somalia- education-based rehab has a lower # of second-time offenders 

  9. Japan- education is the main 

  10. USA- education is key to lowering prison rates

Kosygin’s response

Historical Crisis Committee (HCC) and Crisis backroom:

Overview: A death has occurred (RIP Shvrenik) a new member has been added. The room welcomes Alexander Shelepin. 

  • Everyone is on high alert and looking into the death of their friend 

  • The death occurred by poison, death by poison donut 

  • A member of the KGB confirms that the assassination was performed by the CIA 

  • The directive that Shverenik was working on will be passed to sponsors 

Motion for 5/1 on the update

  • Kosygin- Directive to take drastic measures, revenge, fire missiles out of Cuba into space or the ocean

  • Brezhnev- Similar response, death for a death

  • Shcherbytsky- respond with more force

  • Mazurov- believes someone with connections to the KGB in the committee assassinated the dead and places the blame on the CIA ( I believe the actual killer was Brezhnev looking into the Crisis room)

  • Shelepin- remain faithful to the committee, avenging the dead and preventing further death, and keeping control of Cuba

Crisis:

Someone wants to build a big bomb to kill someone, and they are making a story where it happens in congress, congressmen will die, but who they are trying to kill, they will survive.

Mikoyan- The US is tormenting them and they need to speak out against them, thinks they need to start being more aggressive

Joint Crisis Committee 1 & 2 (JJC 1 & 2):

Motion to table 1.2 roll bird -  Passes 

5 minute Un mod allowed

4 members of JJC1 were arrested by the FBI and then released they said that were wrongfully detained and not read their Miranda rights

3 JJC1 members were taken out of the room for unknown reasons- reasons found they were called to testify

Overview: Megan Markle was made queen. The British royal family was murdered by a bomb in Buckingham palace and China's president was killed and a new president was brought in

Germany- supports Taiwan in any aggression 

Japan- supports Taiwan

France- neutral 

Singapore- is neutral 

Eswatini- Supports Taiwan

US- Supports Taiwan

Haiti- Supports Taiwan

China- Not planning an invasion of Taiwan

The Republic of Korea- 

Russia- Supports China 

Pakistan- Standing with China 

Guatemala- Stands by Taiwan

Kazakhstan- urges for peace talks semi-neutral

UK- Wants action 

Pakistan 7/1 possible responses to the deaths - Passes 

Russia 5/1 possible motivations of the radical group- Fails 

  1. The US,  war on terror- gives the UK the right to reply (the UK wants a full investigation into this)

  2.  Japan-establish a counter-terrorism unit and investigation into the deaths

  3. Russia- avoid total invasion if possible but stands with China in whatever they choose to pursue

  4. UK- calls upon the UN to investigate what happened, MI6, calls upon the United State, to exercise the right to prosecute whoever did this 

  5. Haiti- agrees with the UK and wants an investigation, supports what the UK and Japan said, and is Innocent until proven guilty

  6. Germany- stands with the investigation

  7. Pakistan- Wants China and the UK to work together with the UN to take down the radical group 

Japan 9/1 counterterrorism and further investigation into the deaths - Passes 

  1. Japan- better counterterrorism units so this doesn’t happen again and a very in-depth investigation

  2. Kazakhstan- Thinks that the UK royal family was caught in the crossfire against the Republic of Korea and China 

  3. Guatemala- offers service to the UK for investigation

  4. Pakistan- urges to nations corporate 

  5. Russia- supports China 

  6. US- creates a generalized investigation system 

  7. China- wants to investigate the link between the Tawainese government and the radical group and work with the UK 

  8. UK- stands with China and is heartbroken by the loss of their sovereignty

  9. Haiti- supports the UK and China and wants to form a task force for counterterrorism

World Health Organization (WHO):

Overview: They are passing or denying amendments 

The previous amendments were also passed 1.3 and 1.4 

1.5 Topic A. Mental Health Crisis in Middle and Low-Income Countries Amendment passes, 1.5B  Passes, and 1.5C  passes

1.5 resolution fails because a sponsor voted in opposition. They debated and got a recount for the resolution.

Motion for the resolution was again failed because a sponsor voted against

United Nations Historical Security Council (UNHSC):

Overview: Suez Crisis, Al Qarasina, a radical anticolonial group based in Aden, are bomb-raiding British + French ships on the Suez canal. There were 39 dead and 13 in critical condition.

France- 11/1 discussing un mod-Fails 

UK-12/1 mod discussing rationality of USSR’s resolution-Passes

  1. USSR- Values their alliance with the USSR and will support them, adds that this is a UK internal affairs, but ask France why they will not 

  2. France- Resolution is irrational, wants no one in Al Qarasina to be alive by next year  

  3. Syria- supports France and the USSR, but doesn’t want more war

  4. Czechoslovakia- Aimed again at France

  5. Lebanon- Directing her argument at France for contradictory statements stated by France 

  6. Israel- When they attacked they want them to remind them that they came to their aid say it was for good and wants the same for Al Qarasina 

  7. Egypt- military action is the right course of action

Motion for a 12/1 mod to discuss a course of action against Al Qarasina-passes

5/1 mod- France's relevance in the issue- passes

  1. Iraq- doesn’t see how France has any relevance in this issue as it is a British problem

  2. France- wants to join forces with the United kingdom and see the killers prosecuted, and no longer wants to see all of Al Qarasina wiped out again. He wants everyone involved in the raiding and actively participated in it should be put on trial.

  3. Jordan- Addresses France

  4. Israel- the only two who should be making these decisions are Egypt and the UK

  5. USSR- France keeps going against the entire council and wants them to yield their violent behavior. The only person of Al Qarasina that should be on trial if a trial is open is the leader of the radical group.

  6. Lebanon- France is contradictory and once questioned by the USSR they retract their previous statement about killing all of Al Qarasina

10/1 France’s relevance on issue passes

  1. Jordan- France keeps contradicting themselves 

  2. Israel- putting everyone on trial will ultimately dissolve any chance of resolution 

  3. USSR- France needs to take a step back. France is unwilling to compromise with the rest of the council.

  4. France- has relevance as one of the ships raided was theirs. Questions the USSR’s relevance. Yes, the leader might have organized it, but who carried it out? He will support the paper if there is a clause in there for the leader and everyone that carried it out.

  5. Egypt- Agrees with the USSR and wants to remind France that we are talking

  6. Iraq- wants the US and Nato to kick France out of Nato

  7. UK-putting them all on trial can start another radical war, put just the leaders 

  8. Lebanon- France is only thinking of themselves, and only talks about their ships that were lost instead of the issue as a whole 


The one working paper on the floor is almost done. Conflicts with France in the writing of this paper are halting the progression of getting it done. It’s France Vrs. The Council.

United States House of Representatives (USHR):

Overview: trying to buy Amazon 

4/1 mod on amazon purchase passes

  1. rush - buying out Amazon, a hugely positive force for the market

  2. Crenshaw- Sell weapons to both Ukraine and Russia, it is easier to keep Amazon in check if we were Amazon 

  3. Peters- Buying out Amazon would be bad because it crashed, so it would be bad

  4. Duncan- Amazon is a risky purchase so he agrees with Peter's

  1. Schrier- They don’t match the style of our group/ no merger 

  2. Palmer- Mergers will not happen based on what was seen

  5. McMorris Rodgers-Pushing to Merger with the ones that don’t want to merge and will reach a better solution
